Improving Services & Increasing the Impact of Carers’ Voices

Posted on Jan 16, 2019 in Learn to lead

Learn to lead are proud to be collaborating with the Carers’ Centre and, thanks to Healthwatch B&NES, have received funding for a project to benefit local carers and those that are cared for, by improving services and increasing the impact of Carers Voices.

Carers will be trained using the Learn to lead co-production training and tools to enable local carers to develop their own plans, to take part in planning and influence local service provision in order to improve the patient and user experience.

The Carers’ Centre is a local charity working across Bath & North east Somerset, supporting people who care for family and friends who need extra support day-to-day.

This might be because they are elderly, have a physical disability or illness, a mental health problem or struggles with substance misuse. Caring for someone can feel very isolating, tiring and have a significant impact on your health and wellbeing, the Carers’ Centre provides much needed support.  They provide information and advice, breaks from caring, emotional & practical support and put you in touch with other people who understand what you’re going through.

They support carers of all ages and also have a team raising awareness across the county to encourage carers to recognise their role and to come forward to gain the information and support they need.

We are really looking forward to getting the project up and running, working with The Carers centre to achieve a significantly positive outcome for all.
