Over 150 Trained Across Cornwall – How are they using the Training & Toolkits ?

Posted on Oct 15, 2015 in Learn to lead

More than 150 people have received the Learn to lead training across Cornwall over the past 2 years. Below are just a few ways the training and toolkits have been used over the past few months:

DCH –

DCH have a number of projects supporting homeless young people across the county. Staff have used the tools during 1:1 support planning work with the young people and also to support a project across a variety of their settings in which they wanted Young Peoples feedback and involvement.

NCS Project

National Citizen Service offers young people, aged 15-17, the opportunity to meet new people and try new things. It is a national 4 week programme. This year, we have worked with Young People Cornwall, Cornwall College and BF adventure on the use of Learn to lead to support the community project element of the 4 week programme. Young people worked together in groups to develop a project to enhance their communities. Seeing the young people work with each other using the tools to create their community action project was inspirational.

Substance Misuse planning

Developing a needs assessment for young people’s substance misuse involved getting service provider staff input.  The Learn to lead sticky wall and review tool was used to capture staff feedback on what’s working well, what’s not working so well and what could be focussed on in future.

Chaos CIC

Chaos has three elements; a community café, a small holding and a craft project. The project works with vulnerable people, delivering employability skills, engages people in meaningful activity and supports people to access employment. Chaos CIC have used the Learn to lead toolkits at training sessions, to plan projects and events and in small group work.

Library and OSS

During the consultations held by the customers and communities team with regards to the future of library and One Stop Shop services, impartial facilitators facilitated sessions using the Learn to lead sticky wall to support proactive discussions. The tools helped the process by providing a format where everyone had a voice and listened to each other’s views and ideas.

Just a few of the ways learn to lead is working across the county.
